| Community Hero Sheldon Brown |
Sponsored by Capozzoli’s Pizzeria |
San Luis Rey Community Newsletter would like to honor and recognize Sheldon Brown. Sheldon and his wife of 22 years, Naomi, have been making a difference in the Oceanside area for over 20 years starting when Sheldon was enlisted in the Marine Corp as a drill instructor.
|
Sheldon was instrumental in starting a program here in Oceanside called Adopt a Block. Sheldon and Naomi and their volunteers meet every Saturday at 10:30 am at the Family Fellowship Church then they go out to three neighborhoods in the San Luis Rey area of Oceanside. Sheldon said that they go out to build personal relationshipswith the people in the community. When they are out in the community they offer their assistance cleaning up the area, helping people with special needs, and other services. Sheldon describes it as taking the church out to the community. Sheldon is also heavily involved in Save Our Streets, a program backed by the city of Oceanside and supported by the police department. This program is designed to help the youth of Oceanside to stay out of gangs through positive mentoring. Save Our Streets also helps the young adults get jobs in the community. Some of the jobs are subsidized through the city of Oceanside; there are many more programs available. So if you know a young person that could benefit from any of these programs or if you would like to volunteer or support Sheldon contact him at 760-439-1971. |
| Small Business Spotlight Warner’s Muffler |
Sponsored by Capozzoli’s Pizzeria |
| Warner’s Muffler has been a part of the Oceanside community for over 30 years. Jimmy Warner and his wife Missy now run the day to day operations. Jimmy has built a reputation as a master at exhaust system repair and fabrication. Nobody around can match Warner’s quality and service with fair pricing. Warner’s is known for their exhaust work, but you may not know of some of the other service’s they provide such as installing and repairing trailer hitch’s and wiring, they also do welding and fabrication. Here’s one you may not know: they service trailers from the wheel bearing and brake system to the electrical systems. So in a couple of months when you load your desert toys on the trailer think about getting it serviced to prevent an untimely break down. In June Jimmy and Missy’s son Jack was involved in an unfortunate auto accident. Jimmy and Missy would |
like to thank everyone for their support and thoughts and prayers. They would like everyone to know Jake is going to be alright and is having a miraculous recovery.
